What is needed today is the judicious use of fuel and other natural resources for the well being of the present and future generations, said Mr. Murali Madhavan P, General Manager (OM&S), during his inaugural speech at the Encon Club Staff Coordinators Meet convened at Avenue regent, Kochi on 26 August. He also reminded the participants to remain as change agents in our society.
In the invitation lectures that followed, Dr. P.S. Easa, Director (Rtd), Kerala Forest Research Institute gave a highly informative session about the importance and need to preserve our biodiversity. This was followed by a talk by Mr. Fijo Jose, Chief Executive, Ace Technologies on the emerging trends in solar energy capture.
The best performing Encon Clubs were declared at the meet, through evaluation of the annual activities undertaken by them at the School and College level. In the inter-club competition organized for BPCL KR Encon Clubs, St.Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Karimannoor, Thodupuzha was adjudged as the Best Encon Club in the School Category to receive the Trophy and cash award while Nava Nirman Public School, Vazhakala bagged the shield and cash award for the second prize. Consolation prize went to Rajagiri Christu Jayanti Public School, Kakanad. In the Arts & Science College category, S.N. College, Kollam was adjudged as the Best Encon Club and S.N.College, Cherthala came in as the Runner up. The consolation prize went to S N College, Kannur. In the professional college’s category, Ilahia School of Science & Technology, Muvattupuzha, bagged the Best Encon Club award and St. Berchman’s College of Management Studies, Changanachery finished as the runner up. Consolation prize went to Universal College of Engineering, Konathakunnu, Thrissur.
Mr. Rajmohan S, Dy General Manager (Learning & Development) distributed the prizes to the winners. The event provided a platform for the coordinators to interact and share their knowledge and experience on the latest issues and challenges in energy conservation and environment protection. Mr. Mathew P Thomas, Chief Manager (Energy & Environment) had welcomed the gathering and Ms Seena Jose, Staff Coordinator, Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery proposed the vote of thanks. Introductory remarks were made by Mr. Benny Cherian, Staff Coordinator, Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam. The overall conduct of the event was co-ordinated by Dr. Kochu Baby Manjooran, Manager (E &E), Mr. Sunil K Antony, Dy Manager (E & E), Mr. Ramesh Kannan, Dy Manager (E &E), Mr. V Anilkumar, Asst Manager (QC) and Ms. Sherli Kunjumman of E&E section.
